Rumor: Google Pixel phones coming October 20
The Google Pixel phones, which will be the successors to last year’s Nexus 5X and 6P, may launch on October 20. An Australian site reports this based on anonymous sources. The announcement was scheduled for October 4.
It will not be a cheap device, Ausdroid reports based on several anonymous sources. The Australian provider Telstra, which would in any case sell one of the devices, would sell it with a subscription of around 65 euros per month.
The date of October 4 for the announcement of the new devices has been passed before, but it is the first time that a release date has emerged. In general, there is not too long at Google between presenting the device and the start of sales. In this case, that would be a little over two weeks.
Last week it was revealed that Google will probably call its new phones Pixel and Pixel XL. Google first used the Pixel name on its own Chromebook Pixel notebooks, of which the company made two versions, one in 2013 and one in 2015. A tablet called Pixel C also appeared in late 2015. Google would drop the Nexus name. , because the Pixel phones would run a modified version of Android. HTC would make the Pixel phones.
