Google would work on a new version of its mesh router and provide it with beacons with a built-in speaker with Google Assistant. The new system would consist of a primary router and the smaller beacons.

The current Google Wifi consists of a round router and to set up a mesh network, several of those devices must be combined. In terms of functionality, those modules are the same; the new Google Nest Wifi system would consist of a primary router that can be combined with smaller beacons. The Google Assistant speakers would be in those beacons, but not in the primary router.

According to 9to5google, Google will announce the new system at its event in October, where the Pixel 4 smartphones will also be presented. The new version would be compatible with the current Google Wifi. The design would also look different and according to the rumor, the Nest Wifi comes in three colors.

The sources of 9to5google claim that the beacons with Assistant speakers perform almost the same as the Google Home Mini and its possible successor, the Nest Mini. That new version of the small smart speaker would have slightly better sound quality.
