Rumor: Google is working on more expensive Home speaker with stereo sound

Google is reportedly working on a new version of its Home speaker. The speaker with Google Assistant would support stereo and produce a better sound than the current Home speaker that the search giant sells.

Google is developing the speaker under the name Home Max, but that will probably not be the final name, writes 9to5Google. The Home Max would not only have a better sound, but would also be made of more expensive materials, which would result in a significantly higher price than the 149 euros that the search giant is now asking for its speaker in Europe.

The site does not know exactly whether the development of the speaker is almost finished or whether Google is still working on the device. The search giant will hold an event next week, at which the company reportedly wants to present a 2-in-1 and two smartphones. The company announced the release of the first Home last year at the event where it also showcased the Pixels. In addition to the Home Max, a cheaper Home Mini would also arrive.

The Home Max seems to be an answer to Apple’s HomePod, a speaker with support for Siri. The Apple speaker is considerably more expensive and, according to the manufacturer, offers better sound than competing models. In addition to those from Google, six speakers are coming that also offer integration with Assistant.
