Rumor: Google has stopped merging Android and Chrome OS
Google would have stopped developing the operating system that was supposed to be an amalgamation of Android and Chrome OS. Devices that would work with ‘Andromeda’ have also been canceled, including a 7″ tablet from Huawei.
An editor of 9to5Google, Stephen Hall, reports on Twitter that he has heard from two different sources that Andromeda has been put on hold. The work Google’s teams have done will be used by the search giant for other and similar projects.
Andromeda rumors circulated last fall, after Chrome OS laptops were given the ability to run Android apps and install apps from the Play Store. That was not possible before. There was also talk of a laptop with Andromeda. According to Hall, it is possible that the laptop will come with Chrome OS.
In addition, it seems that Google will pay more attention to Fuchsia, a mobile operating system whose interface has recently been tested. The American company has never spoken publicly about what the intention is with Fuchsia.
