Google and LG are likely to collaborate to make a TV that runs on an unannounced version of Google TV. The initiative is similar to the Nexus smartphones that run on Android.

According to Bloomberg to be There are currently talks going on about a collaboration that has not yet been finalized. If the deal goes through, LG will have access to new Google TV software to install on its TVs. Specifications of such a TV are not yet known. It is likely that this will only be decided at a later stage.

It is not the first time that Google has given a manufacturer access to its software. The internet giant did the same with the production of the Nexus devices, which run on a bare Android installation. The rumors indicate that Google also wants televisions on the market that can be seen as a reference model for its software. Giving manufacturers access earlier also has the advantage that hardware can be brought to the market more quickly with the TV service.

LG announced its first TV with Google’s television service at the CES electronics fair. Although the service has been around for quite some time, the internet giant has seen little success with it. Google recently announced that this should change; all the television manufacturers that are being spoken to would be interested in Google TV and in addition new versions of the software will be released in the future, expanding the functionality.
