Rumor: Google and Amazon will come with Airpods-like ears next year
Google and Amazon would like to release their own Airpods-like earphones in the second half of next year. So says analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who until now mainly specialized in information about unannounced products and services from Apple.
This is how the market for wireless earphones really gets going, expects Kuo according to 9to5Mac. Google already has bluetooth earphones, but they are not separate earphones and they are connected to each other by wire. Amazon doesn’t have a comparable product right now.
The Unitech company would supply the PCB for both products, while Goertek will assemble the products, Kuo reports. It is unknown how he got his information, but in the past the analyzes he gave have often proved correct, although Apple has been his specialty until now.
Kuo sees Google and Amazon as the main competitors for Apple’s wireless earphones, because Google is the most influential brand in Android, while Amazon has an influential voice assistant in the US with Alexa. Apple released its Airpods two years ago. Kuo expects Apple to integrate health-monitoring sensors into an upcoming version of the earbuds.
