A new installment in the God of War series is likely set in Norse mythology. A selection of leaked images shows that main character Kratos will continue his adventures, this time in battle with other gods.

The rumor arose when shinobi602 two messages posted on Twitter, ‘To the halls of Valhalla. my boy. #GodofWar4’. Shinobi has often released accurate information about games early on, and the website NerdLeaks has done more research based on the information. The NerdLeaks website is down at the time of writing and the article about God of War was previously removed. The site managed to obtain a number of images by viewing the source code from the website of an artist of Sony Santa Monica, the studio behind the God of War series. The source code contained images that should have been protected by a password. The pictures show the Nordic environment.

From the images, it appears that the main role is still filled by Kratos, but this time the well-known character is equipped with a beard and an ax, which fits better with the Nordic style. It is not certain whether it is the same character from the first God of War games, or a character with the same name. This is because in the previous games Kratos only battled the well-known Greek gods.

Some images also have written notes. This shows that Kratos will in any case visit Alfheim, one of the nine worlds from Norse mythology and home of the light elves and the god Freyr. Kratos will also be able to use his ax to create new paths and certain plants will emit spores when touched.

Earlier there was a rumor that God of War 4 is in development for a possible PlayStation 4K. Whether this is the case is not clear from the images. It is suspected that Sony will announce the game at E3 this year.
