Rumor: Galaxy S10 will have a hole in the screen and three cameras on the back

According to telecom journalist Evan Blass, the Samsung Galaxy S10 will not get a notch, but a hole in the screen for the front camera. On the back come cameras with three different angles of view: normal, telephoto and wide.

The information from Blass confirms previous rumors about the appearance of the Galaxy S10. Several manufacturers are working on phones with a front camera behind the screen, but it is presumably not yet possible to actually place the camera behind the screen without a cutout. Instead of a notch, Samsung would make a small hole in the OLED screen for the camera.

At the presentation of its foldable smartphone, Samsung already showed such a screen under the name Infinity O. Samsung also hinted at a screen without any cutout, with the name New Infinity. In theory it is possible to make an OLED panel transparent and therefore to put a camera behind it. However, the technology does not seem ready for actual use in the short term.

There are three cameras on the back, all of which have a different angle of view. There is a ‘normal’ camera, a model with a wide-angle lens and a variant with a telephoto lens. More and more manufacturers seem to opt for such a setup. Huawei does that, for example, with its Mate 20 Pro.

Furthermore, Blass states that the Galaxy S10 will have a fingerprint scanner behind the screen, something that devices such as the Oppo Find X, Vivo Nex and OnePlus 6T already have this year. The phone also gets Samsung’s One UI, a new shell that is placed over Android 9. Samsung already announced the new interface itself.
