EA Motive, the developer of Star Wars Squadrons, is rumored to be working on a revival of an old EA franchise. The game in question would be announced during the EA Play presentation on Thursday, July 22.

The information comes from VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who more often releases accurate information about unannounced games. Grubb does not mention which franchise it is, but says in a podcast that the game will be shown during EA’s upcoming presentation, VGC and Eurogamer also noted.

“We’ll see if we don’t die first,” Grubb teases. It may be a new game in the Dead Space franchise, Eurogamer also writes. That same website reports that Grubb’s claims match information Eurogamer learned itself. The studio behind the Dead Space series, Visceral Games, closed in 2017. At the time, Visceral was still working on an untitled Star Wars game, which was also scrapped. The last Dead Space game was released in 2013.

EA Motive says it is working on several new games. The studio reported that in a blog post in October 2020. The developer has yet to disclose details of the projects the company is working on, but the alleged revival project is set to be shared in a month’s time. The EA Play presentation will take place on July 22. It is not yet known what time EA will hold the presentation.
