Rumor: Asus is working on smartphone with OLED screen and 5000mAh battery
Asus is working on a smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625-soc, 5000mAh and dual camera, according to recent information. The manufacturer has not yet presented the phone, but various approval authorities have released information about the phone.
The American agency FCC approved the device with type number Z01HD on Monday. The inspection report contains, among other things, screenshots of the device, to indicate where the mandatory inspection logos are located. The Chinese Tenaa published photos of the appearance, while Asus itself released a marketing text early on via the Bluetooth SIG in which it praises the phone.
It is a phone with a 5.5″ OLED screen with full HD resolution, covered with convex glass. The soc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, an octacore with eight Cortex A53 processor cores made at 14nm. This makes it known as an economical soc and Lenovo’s Moto Z Play with this soc achieved high scores in our battery tests.
In addition, the Asus phone also has a large battery. Asus mentions a 5000mAh capacity when adopting Bluetooth SIG. This means that the characteristics of this phone correspond to the Lenovo P2 smartphone, which also has a 5.5 “OLED screen, Snapdragon 625 and a battery of around that size.
The Asus phone measures 15.4×7.7cm and is 8mm thick. It has a 13-megapixel camera on the front and a dual camera on the back. Of that dual camera, one has a resolution of 12.3 megapixels, while the other is a 13-megapixel variant for slightly higher resolution photos. It is unknown how Asus intends to use the camera system.
The next logical moment for a product launch is CES, the electronics show that takes place every year in Las Vegas. The fair starts in three weeks.
