Rumor: Apple won’t come with iPhone SE successor next spring

Apple would not come next spring with a successor for its iPhone SE. That says analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has proven in the past that he often has correct information in advance. In general, Apple comes with a successor a year after the release of an iPhone.

Apple wouldn’t want to give the iPhone SE a successor, because it makes less money from the small phone and cannibalizes it on sales of its larger and more expensive models. Due to the lack of an update for the SE, Kuo expects Apple to ship fewer iPhones in the first half of 2017 than it did in the same period in 2016.

The iPhone SE is the last high-end smartphone in its size, approximately 13x6cm, and has the design of the older iPhone 5S from 2013 but with new components and a larger battery. The phone received the lowest suggested retail price for an iPhone to date: 489 euros. The cheapest version of the iPhone 7 costs 769 euros.
