Rumor: Apple will update iMac line next week
Apple plans to update its iMac line of all-in-ones next week, claims a French site that correctly announced the recent update to the MacBook Air. Maybe it’s just an update with faster processors.
Apple is expected to announce the new models by the end of next week, MacGeneration claims. That French site knew the arrival of new MacBook Airs and the opening of a French Apple Store in Aix-en-Provence correctly early on based on its sources. The site has not heard from that source exactly what the update entails, but it is expected that it is a relatively simple processor upgrade.
The versions of the 21″ and 27″ iMacs that now still have a Core i5-4570S would receive an upgrade to the Core i5-4590S with a 100MHz higher clock speed. The 27″ iMac with Core i5-4670 may get a processor update to the Core i5-4690. MacGeneration is also speculating about Thunderbolt 2 coming to the iMac. The code of the beta of OS X 10.9.4 Mavericks recently revealed references found to ‘iMac15.1’ and ‘iMac15,n’, which are believed to be the successors to the current line, which are referred to in the software as ‘14.1,1’, ‘14.2,’ and ‘14.3,’ indicated.
