Rumor: Apple will release three smartphones with iPhone X design in 2018
Apple will release three new smartphones in 2018 that are based on the borderless design of the iPhone X, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. It concerns three devices with different screen sizes.
Ming-Chi Kuo states that Apple will first introduce a 6.5″ device that, like the iPhone X, is equipped with an OLED screen. In addition, according to the analyst, Apple will market another device with an OLED screen, although the screen is of these with a diagonal of 5.8″ a lot smaller; this will possibly be the successor to the current iPhone X. In terms of screen resolution, these two devices would still be 2436×1125 pixels, the resolution of the current iPhone X.
Finally, a third device is also being introduced, a 6.1″ model that, unlike the other two, is equipped with an LCD. According to the website MacRumors, which quoted from a report by the analyst, the device is with the 6.1″ screen is intended as a mid-range model, and the other two smartphones are intended for a higher market segment.
The analyst expected that this cheaper device with an LCD will cost between 649 and 749 dollars. However, he made no predictions about the prices of the other two devices. Furthermore, he did not mention a specific period or date for the release of these smartphones.
Ming-Chi Kuo has repeatedly provided accurate information based on sources in Apple’s supply chain. For example, prior to the introduction of the iPhone X, the usually well-informed analyst provided correct information about the specifications of this device, which has now been available for more than a week.
Earlier, the analyst predicted that Apple will also use the hardware for Face ID on the iPhone X, including the dot projector and infrared receiver, for new models of its smartphone next year. Whether this is actually the case for the three possible new smartphones with the iPhone X design is not clear.
