Apple would release a new version of the iPhone 8 with 4.7″ screen next year, a Taiwanese newspaper reported. The phone would serve as a new iPhone SE as the cheapest device with the latest soc in the lineup.

The phone should be released in March 2020, United Daily News reports. Apple would use the design of the iPhone 8, but provide the phone with the Apple A13 soc that will probably appear in iPhones for the first time this fall. The storage would be 128GB. According to the Taiwanese newspaper, the price will be around $649.

With that, for the first time since 2017, an iPhone would appear again with Touch ID and a Home button. Both of those elements disappeared from iPhones with the 2018 generation, but since then Apple has applied Touch ID to the MacBook Air laptop and the tablets iPad Air and iPad Mini.

There have been rumors about a smaller and cheaper iPhone that should have been released last year, but those rumors turned out to be untrue. There are no other sources that have heard the same info. Although the iPhone 8 has a smaller screen than current iPhones, the housing is approximately the same in size as that of the current iPhone XS.
