Rumor: Apple will release higher-capacity batteries next iPhone
Apple would give the next generation of iPhones batteries with a higher capacity. While the successor to the iPhone XR would have a battery that has up to 5 percent more capacity, the successor to the XS would have a battery that is up to 25 percent larger.
The increase in battery capacity is necessary for two-way wireless charging, for example to be able to charge Airpods by placing them on an iPhone, MacRumors reports based on information from the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. His information has often proved correct in the past.
The two-way wireless charging feature is something that competitors Samsung and Huawei already offer in their most expensive phones. The Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro already have this. Samsung uses it, among other things, to let users charge the Galaxy Buds earphones.
With the larger battery, the iPhone XS Max would come out between 3500 and 3650mAh, the largest battery that Apple has put in an iPhone so far. The increase in capacity is in line with what the rest of the market is doing. Other brands also put batteries with increasingly higher capacity in expensive devices. The Samsung Galaxy S10+ has a 4100mAh battery, the Xiaomi Mi 9 a 3300mAh battery, the Huawei P30 Pro 4200mAh and the OnePlus 6T 3700mAh.

iPhone XR | 2942mAh | 0-5% | 2942-3089mAh |
