Rumor: Apple TV gets multi-user support with update

Apple TV is getting support for multiple user accounts, according to a recent rumor. The Apple device with tvOS 11 would also receive support for viewing footage in picture-in-picture mode.

It is still unknown whether users can secure their accounts or whether it is mainly about separating the data from different users so that children do not receive suggestions based on parental viewing behavior when watching Apple TV content. The support for multiple accounts is in an update called tvOS 11, which should be released this year, claims Israeli site The Verifier.

The site does not yet have a track record of Apple rumors, as The Verifier has only started publishing information about unannounced Apple software since this year. The claims the site has made should come true with the new versions of Apple’s operating systems. Apple consistently presented updates to its operating systems at its WWDC developer conference in June, and it’s expected to be the same this year.

In addition to the multi-account system, according to the Israeli site, users can also preview images via picture-in-picture as they move through the interface. The Apple TV came out in late 2015.
