The upcoming Apple TV with 4k support, which has been rumored for half a year, will be released this fall. The manufacturer would like to present the device together with the following iPhones and new Apple Watch models.

If Apple presents the new set-top box together with the new iPhones, that will probably be on September 12. Apple is now in talks with video services that have apps for Apple TV to offer the images in 4k and HDR, financial news agency Bloomberg reports citing anonymous sources. The Apple TV has a newer processor on board to be able to output 4k HDR images. Bloomberg does not mention which processor is involved.

Rumors about the upcoming streaming box have been circulating for months. Even then there was talk of an update with ‘better colors’ that might indicate HDR. The most recent version of Apple TV came out in 2015. During its own developer conference WWDC, Apple promised that users would hear much more about innovations in tvOS, the operating system of the set-top box, this fall.
