Rumor: Apple to release wireless charging mat and headphones this year
Apple is said to be working on the release of a wireless mat to charge devices and wireless headphones, claims analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities. In addition, Kuo also expects Apple-made tags that work with the uwb chip in the iPhone 11.
The Apple headphones that should be released this year should work like AirPods, claims 9to5Mac. There are no further details. The site has seen a report from Kuo. The report mainly focuses on the impact of the coronavirus on Apple, but also mentions some new products. Kuo has often made accurate predictions about future Apple products, although the predictions are not always correct in all areas.
In addition to the headphones, Apple is also said to be working on a mat to wirelessly charge devices. The manufacturer has already announced such a product in the form of AirPower in 2017, but Apple canceled it last year. This was reportedly due to problems with the mat working with various products.
Kuo also reiterates that the ‘AirTags’ would be coming. These are small devices that users can hang on a bunch of keys, for example, after which an iPhone 11 can locate it via the ultrawideband chip in the iPhone 11. That uwb chip doesn’t have many functions now.
