Rumor: Apple is considering asking $149 or $199 for new Apple TV
Apple would consider charging a significantly higher price for the new Apple TV than for the old one. A new version will reportedly be announced next week. The manufacturer would consider prices of 149 and 199 dollars.
The fourth-generation Apple TV was set to be available in October, priced at least under $200, but still more than the current third-generation. That’s according to sources from 9to5Mac. The Apple TV cost $99 when it was introduced, but the price was lowered to $69 in March this year, and is listed in the Pricewatch for 65 euros.
Apple is said to plan to continue to sell the current media player. The new version would look identical but be thicker and a bit wider, and also offer more functionality. For example, the upcoming player will reportedly receive support for Siri, a new remote control, a changed user interface and an App Store with accompanying SDK for developers.
Apple is expected to announce the fourth generation of the Apple TV on September 9, at an event that would also introduce new iPhones.
