Apple is said to have put its AirPower wireless charger into production. That indicates that the wireless charger for iPhones, Apple Watch and AirPods will be released sometime in the near future.

ChargerLab reports heard from two sources that Apple is starting production. Luxshare Precision, the company that also produces AirPods, is said to have already started and Pegatron would start next week. ChargerLab relies on employees of the suppliers in question.

If production were to get underway, the release will presumably be sometime in the coming months. It’s not the first time someone has claimed that the charger’s release is getting closer. Developer Steve Throughton-Smith, who often gets information from Apple’s software, claimed two weeks ago that the obstacles to production are gone. Apple has not yet announced a date as to whether or when the charger will go on sale.

There were several production issues, according to an earlier rumor. Firstly, the mat became too hot, which means that devices cannot charge as quickly, and devices’ batteries also heat up, causing them to wear out faster. In addition, the hardware and software of compatible iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watch models did not work well together, so that the charging did not go well. The third problem was interference. To charge the three devices of different sizes, different sized coils are needed.

The AirPower has 22 coils in an 8-7-7 configuration to charge the devices wirelessly, according to ChargerLab. Apple announced the AirPower in September 2017, along with the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X. The mat should be able to charge an iPhone, Apple Watch and box of AirPods at the same time. He should have come out last year, but that didn’t happen.
