Rumor: Apple has fixed AirPower overheating issues with Apple Watch

Apple has reportedly overcome the overheating issues that its Airpower wireless charging mat combined with the Apple Watch. Photos have appeared on Twitter that should confirm this claim.

Apple has the Apple Watch working on the product codenamed C68, aka AirPower. Which claims Jon Prosser from YouTube channel FrontpageTech, which also publishes images of ‘C68’. Prosser often brings out Apple news, although it is not yet known whether his claims about Apple’s AR glasses are correct. Earlier this year, it was he who brought out the rumor that Apple has resumed its wireless mat project.

Apple announced that mat in September 2017 under the name AirPower. AirPower was supposed to be able to wirelessly charge multiple devices, such as the combination of an iPhone and an Apple Watch, but the product never appeared. In March last year, it emerged that Apple had stopped the project because the product “didn’t meet its high standards.” Reports spoke of mat overheating and interference issues.

The new rumor is in part in line with a claim made early this year by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He said Apple is working on a smaller wireless charging mat, which should be released in the first half of this year. However, the mat in Prosser’s photo does not appear smaller than that of previous AirPower photos.
