Rumor: Apple calls iPhone with 6.5-inch screen Xs Max
Apple would call its upcoming smartphone with 6.5 “screen iPhone Xs Max, 9to5 Mac reports. In recent years, the larger smartphones from Apple were always called ‘Plus’. The name Max has been used for years with Android smartphones.
9to5Mac claims that the smaller iPhone will be called the Xs, while the site has not yet heard the name for the cheaper phone with 6.1″ LCD. The site does not mention why Apple would drop the Plus name for larger iPhones in favor of Max.
The Plus versions of iPhones in recent years invariably had some elements beyond the size that set them apart from the smaller models. For example, the iPhone 8 Plus and 7 Plus have a dual camera and the 6s Plus got optical stabilization in the camera, where the regular 6s does not. Perhaps the name Max indicates that apart from the size, there is no difference between the 5.8″ and 6.5″ variants of the phone.
Apple has announced an event for next Wednesday. Although the company does not mention it, the general expectation is that the American company will present its next iPhones there. In recent years, this invariably happened on the second Tuesday or Wednesday in September.
