Rumor: Android Wear update brings possibility for interactive watchfaces
The next update for watches with Android Wear will give watchfaces the ability to be interactive, reports an Android fan site. By pressing the watch face, the software shows more information or the watch opens an underlying application.
If the user presses the screen, for example, the color of the watchface can change or the status visible in the watchface, reports Android fansite Phandroid based on still secret documentation for developers. There are already watchfaces that support pressing the watch, but this is done via a method not supported by Google.
In addition to the interactive watch faces, there will also be a watch face with the Together function, with which users can send a drawing or message to each other’s watch. That function seems rumored to be reserved for a single watchface, but that would limit the function. Together resembles a feature that Apple also built into the Apple Watch.
It is unknown when the update should be released and whether a function like Together will be included. Google has already provided Android Wear with an update several times last year.
