Amazon may be working on a TV series based on PlayStation franchise God of War. Sources report this to the usually well-informed Deadline. The company is said to be in negotiations with Sony for the rights and the series should be released on Prime Video.

According to Deadline sources, The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are leading the project. The Wheel of Time producer Rafe Judkins, Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions are also involved in the initiative, according to the website. Few details are known yet, although it is written that it is a live-action series.

More and more TV series based on games are appearing. For example, League of Legends series Arcane recently appeared on Netflix and earlier this year a series based on Cuphead was released on that service. Halo: The Series will be released on streaming service Paramount+ later this month. HBO, in turn, is working on a series based on The Last of Us, another PlayStation franchise. It is expected to be released next year. Other series based on NieR: Automata, Twisted Metal and Resident Evil are also in the works.

Amazon, in turn, is also working on series based on games. The company is working on a Fallout television series, and late last year Deadline said Amazon is close to a deal to produce a Mass Effect series. God of War would join that lineup. A new God of War game will also be released this year for the PlayStation 4 and 5. It will be the eighth game in the franchise.
