Rumor: Amazon is working on a wearable that recognizes emotions by voice

Amazon is said to be developing a wearable that can recognize users’ emotions by using their voice. That claims financial news agency Bloomberg. The wearable should be worn on the wrist and have several microphones.

The wearable is the result of a collaboration between R&D department Lab126 and the team behind digital assistant Alexa, claims Bloomberg. The financial news agency says that Amazon is not yet sure whether the wearable should be on the market. The product was still under development a few weeks ago. Bloomberg says it has seen internal documents about the product, which is codenamed Dylan.

The software could recognize users’ emotions based on the voice input from the microphones, claims Bloomberg. Ultimately, the technology should be able to advise users on how to communicate effectively with other people. It is unknown exactly how that would work. Amazon has not responded to the rumor. Amazon does not currently have a lineup of wearables.
