Royole bends display around cylindrical smart speaker
Royole has announced the Mirage Smart Speaker, a smart speaker with a cylindrical form factor that has equipped the company with a bendable 8″ AMOLED screen. The device is operated via that touchscreen or a voice assistant.
The 8 “amoled screen is curved around the cylindrical speaker and can thus at least show the time, temperature and set alarms, according to the photos that Royole releases. There is also a 5-megapixel camera, the function of which is not yet clear. It is clear that the operation is via the touchscreen, but there is also support for Amazon Alexa. Two far-field microphones are integrated for voice control. The Mirage will be released in the second quarter in the US, for a not small price of $899.
Royole also introduces the RoWrite 2. This is a ‘smart notepad’ that digitally converts notes on real paper and sends them to the mobile app. Royole introduced this product before, but version two is 40 percent lighter and the battery life is said to be improved compared to the 8 hours of the original. The RoWrite 2 will be released in March for $129.
Royole is best known as the company that was the first to announce a foldable smartphone-cum-tablet last year.
