Rolls-Royce, the British manufacturer of aircraft engines, is developing a flying taxi. Earlier Uber already presented plans and a prototype for a taxi in the air. Also co-founder of Google Larry Page came earlier with the electric plane Cora . In a few years we would be able to take a ride through the air from A to B.

Flying taxi

Rolls-Royce has made plans for an electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle (EVTOL). Four to five people fit in the vehicle. It can reach a speed of 400 kilometers per hour over distances of up to 800 kilometers. The Farnborough air show, which takes place next week, offers an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the design.

Partners

To develop the flying taxi, the company wants to work with other companies that also design flying vehicles. Aviation companies and technical organizations must work together to develop the flying vehicles. This will also be done by Rolls-Royce.

The EVTOL uses a gas turbine to generate electricity that drives six propellers with little noise. The advantage of this is that no battery needs to be charged. That is why the vehicle can simply ride on the current infrastructure. The wings can rotate 90 degrees, allowing the vehicle to land and take off vertically. They can also use helipads or airports.

Several companies are already developing an air taxi. They compete for the first successful flight. The developments are in full swing, and it is waiting for the first test flights. Will this be the future means of transport?
