Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition is coming to PC and Switch on September 24
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 returns to PC on September 24. The third part of the roller coaster game series, released sixteen years ago, is released in the form of a Complete Edition and has not been for sale since 2018. The Complete Edition will also be released for the Nintendo Switch.
The PC version of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition will be released on Steam and in the Epic Games Store. Both the PC and Switch versions include the Soaked! And Wild! Expansion, allowing players to add water park and animal rides. You can choose from 300 different attractions, 500 landscapes, 60 shops and services and 20 different animals. A sandbox mode is also available.
The information on Steam shows that this Complete Edition has also received some technical improvements, such as the support of ‘widescreen with a resolution of 1080p and better compatibility for new PC hardware’. So support for higher resolutions will likely be lacking. Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition cannot be regarded as a remaster, although visual improvements have been made and the controls would have been improved.
The original Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is also still on Steam, although it is not for sale. The game originally appeared in November 2004 and arrived on Steam in October 2006, but some twelve years later the game was no longer available for purchase on Steam and GOG. That would have to do with rights that would have expired. That, in turn, probably had to do with the lawsuits that the developer Frontier and publisher Atari fought back and forth, which involved, among other things, the payment of royalties. Atari is still the publisher of this title, according to the Steam page of the original Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, although Frontier is both the developer and the publisher at Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition.
