Rogue Legacy 2 launches in Early Access on July 23
Rogue Legacy 2 will be released in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store on July 23. That is what developer Cellar Door announced. The Early Access game will cost $20 and version 1.0 should be released in 2021.
Developer Cellar Door makes this known in a trailer. The arrival of the game was already announced in April. The early version of the game will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store starting July 23. The game will have an introductory price of $20, Eurogamer reports. The final game should be released in 2021. According to Eurogamer, the price may be raised to $30 with the release of version 1.0.
The original Rogue Legacy came out in 2013. Like the first game in the series, Rogue Legacy 2 is a “roguelite” according to the developer. When characters die in the game, gamers continue playing as that character’s child. Each ‘generation’ has unique characteristics, making each ‘run’ different. This concept is continued in the next section. For example, the trailer shows a character who is an “antique dealer”, which makes the game play in black and white. The class system is also changing. Rogue Legacy 2 also introduces heirlooms, which give characters permanent new abilities.
Rogue Legacy 2 is designed slightly differently from its predecessor. According to the developer, the game features a 2.5D design, with 3D-like characters and a hand-drawn background, while the previous game had a more pixel-like design.
The game also gets more weapons and better biome generation. According to the developer, the game will receive more improvements, but they will be worked on during the Early Access period.
