Rockstar and Take-Two have sold 23 million copies of the game Red Dead Redemption 2 until the end of December. The publisher announced this during the presentation of its quarterly figures.

Red Dead Redemption 2 would be the best-selling game of 2018, the company says in its quarterly figures. It is the first time that the publisher mentions sales figures for its game. Rockstar’s previous major game, GTA V from 2013, has sold more than a hundred million times in total. Only Tetris and Minecraft have sold more. GTA V later also appeared for PC. Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently only available for Xbox One and PS4.

The publisher does not comment on whether the sales were above or below expectations. Also, the company does not say anything about the number of players of Red Dead Online, the online environment that every buyer of the game has access to.

Take-Two had sales of $1.25 billion in the quarter ended December 31. That was $480 million the year before. According to the company, that increase is mainly due to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2.
