Rocket League gets new limited-time battle royale game mode with Knockout Bash
Psyonix has announced a new limited-time battle royale game mode for Rocket League, Knockout Bash. In this mode, eight riders have to collide from an ever-decreasing safe zone, after which a knockout can follow. The mode will run from April 27 to May 10.
Knockout Bash is all about players knocking each other out. They can do this according to developer Psyonix They do this by bumping into their opponents from the shrinking game zone, called the Safezone, or by bouncing the other players against one of the obstacles. If the players are outside the safe zone, they must be back in it within ten seconds or they will receive a knockout. If a player is bounced against one of the obstacles, such as a spike or a laser grid, an instant knockout follows. After three knockouts, a player is defeated and is out of the game.
After six minutes a new phase in the match begins, with an immediate knockout. Every attack, block or grab action is then executed with full force. If a player is then ejected from the safe zone, they also receive an instant knockout.
Players can use at least three new in-game actions in the new game mode: attack, block and grab. When attacking another player, he flies through the game world. With a blockade, the attacker takes his own attack, but only if the blockade is executed at the right time. When grabbing, you can dodge an attack and take the attacker in one turn and then throw him through the playing field.
The in-game camera can be aimed at the opponents via enemy lock-on in the new limited-time game mode and the boost level of each car is automatically topped up once a player stops using it. Psyonix is also introducing three new arenas for Knockout Bash: Calavera, Carbon, and Quadron. There are no more walls and traditional Rocket League floors in these arenas. Knockout Bash can be played from April 27 to May 10. It is not clear whether the game mode will also return at a later date.
