Rocket League developer replaces loot boxes with blueprints on December 4 4
The previously announced replacement of the loot boxes in Rocket League will take effect on December 4. From that moment on, the Crates have been replaced by blueprints, so that it is clear to players in advance which item they receive.
Developer Psyonix writes that the blueprints are available after certain online competitions. Leading up to the December 4 update, Crates and all in-game purchases will be suspended for 25 hours from December 3 at 6 PM CET.
Blueprints show players a specific item that can be built for a fixed amount of Credits, but it is also possible to trade it with a friend. Credits are the new currency needed to unlock the Blueprints and replace the Keys now needed to open the Crates. Unopened Crates are automatically converted into blueprints and each Key is converted into one hundred Credits. There will also be a new item store, which means that purchased items can no longer be traded. Items obtained through blueprints or in this store are also no longer redeemable after the update.
The update to replace the loot boxes coincides with the end of the twelfth season. This season’s rewards will be released from December 4, and the December 4 update heralds the start of the new competitive thirteenth season.
