Roccat is developing its own post-apocalyptic game Sick City
Roccat, the German manufacturer of mice and keyboards, has announced that it is developing the post-apocalyptic game Sick City. It will be a real-time tactical combat game in which you have to conquer the city of Sick City in a squad of four.
Roccat has explained that the player must always choose a faction led by a strong leader. That person is supported on the battlefield by various units. To get more units on the map, the rare and mysterious material Aimo must be mined. The more sources of this material the player has under control, the more support can be called in. The goal is to destroy the opponent’s Aimo reactor.
To achieve that goal, fighting from building to building will have to take place in an urban environment, with many street fights also breaking out. The game will likely be comparable to titles like Commandos and Company of Heroes, which also revolved around controlling a tactical small unit in real time.
Roccat’s marketing manager Tuan Mai has told Engadget that Sick City will be available for Steam Early Access, which is likely to happen in August. He did not say who exactly makes the game, but according to Mai the team consists of experienced developers who have previously worked in game studios in Hamburg. This means that it may be developers from, for example, the studios Goodgame or Bigpoint.
The closed alpha, for which people can sign up, will start at the beginning of June. Roccat says it needs people to find bugs and provide feedback to the developers. At the end of this test period, the game will be available to everyone.
