Roadmap shows Intel NUC with Core i9 to be released at the end of 2019
Two Intel roadmaps have appeared online showing the release schedule of the small NUC PCs. For example, the NUC Ghost Canyon should appear at the end of 2019, early 2020, with a mobile Core i9 octacore.
The roadmaps that Videocardz writes about have appeared on the Chinese site PCEva and the authenticity has not been proven so that it is still a rumor. One roadmap shows the NUCs with Core i9 and Core i7, the other with a Core i3 and Core i5. The top model is the NUC codenamed Ghost Canyon, which would include Intel processors in the H-series. According to the overview, the most powerful model is a Core i9 in the 9 series, a processor with eight cores and sixteen threads and with a tdp of 45W.
Ghost Canyon variants with Core i7 and Core i5 of the ninth generation will also appear in early 2020. The NUCs have to make do with the Intel UHD GPU of the processor and they can contain up to 32GB DDR4. In addition, they get two Thunderbolt 3 ports and HDMI 2a.
The roadmap also includes the Frost Canyon, a NUC with Core i7 and Core i5 quad-cores in the U-series of processors with 15W TDP. These are said to be released in the third quarter of 2019 and will include a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
In the first quarter of 2019, the Islay Canyon would appear, a NUC with Core i5-8265U and an AMD Radeon 540X. This contains a 1TB hdd, usb-c 3.1 Gen2 port, hdmi 2.0b and displayport 1.2. It’s not the first time Intel has provided a NUC with a Radeon 540 GPU, it did before with the Crimson Canyon.
