Riot Games Is Working On Competitive Tactical Shooter With Different Characters
Riot Games is working on a tactical shooter with characters that each have unique characteristics. The game therefore resembles Overwatch, for example. Riot wants to support the competitive shooter for years, just like League of Legends.
The game has no name yet and is now referred to by Riot as Project A. The studio is showing a video with explanations and first images, but it is still in a ‘development phase’. In the course of next year, Riot will announce more about the new game, there is no release date yet.
Riot Games wants to create a tactical shooter with ‘more creativity’ and ‘more style’ than what is currently on the market. The developer promises a lot of tactical possibilities and playstyles, by adding different types of characters. It is not yet clear what kind of characters there will be and what characteristics they have.
In the announcement, the developer puts a lot of emphasis on things like the global infrastructure and the net code. Riot says it will pay a lot of attention to this and the studio also promises to do its best to keep cheaters away.
In particular, the game seems to compete with Blizzard’s Overwatch. That game regularly gets new characters, so-called Heroes. Presumably, Riot Games will do the same with its tactical shooter. The studio says that like League of Legends, the game will be supported for years to come. It is not yet known what the revenue model for the game will be.
