RIM reports three billionth download from App World
RIM has announced that it has processed more than 3 billion downloads in the App World application store. In addition, the Canadian BlackBerry maker reports that the amount of apps downloaded daily is still growing.
According to RIM, the number of downloads averages 2.5 million per day. However, more apps are being downloaded per day than before: reaching the 1 billion and 2 billion download milestones took 786 and 210 days respectively, while the third billion took just 178 days. There are now approximately 90,000 applications available in App World.
The BlackBerry maker claims that the number of apps downloaded per day is still increasing. That is striking, because the manufacturer has been in heavy weather for some time. BlackBerry devices have lost market share and popularity, while new devices with BlackBerry OS 10 have been delayed.
