Reversing stylus Samsung Galaxy Note 5 can cause damage
The S Pen supplied with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 appears to be able to cause damage to the device after inserting the pen the other way around in the stylus holder in the device. The reverse insertion is just as easy as the correct way.
This is reported by the Android Police site after it encountered problems with this during the review of the device. The problem arises because it is possible to insert the S Pen upside down in the intended opening without the user noticing that it has to be the other way around. There is no resistance to be felt and it is not noticeable in any other way that it is not the intention to insert the S Pen the other way around. This is not possible with previous versions of the S Pen, because they are wider at the top.
If the stylus is inserted upside down, the removal will ‘probably succeed’, but there is a chance that the system detecting the stylus will break. If that mechanism is broken, the smartphone does not ‘know’ whether or not the stylus is in it and the associated software features no longer work.
Samsung has not yet responded to the issue. The Note 5 will not be released in the Benelux, because Europeans use the stylus to a limited extent, according to Samsung. Instead, Samsung comes with the Galaxy S6 Edge+, which does not have a stylus.
