Reversed Arkham Knight beta patch solved performance issues
Batman: Arkham Knight for Windows briefly received a beta patch that appeared to fix the game’s performance issues. The update was published by publisher Warner Bros. however, undone with a subsequent patch.
Users who indicated that they would like to receive beta patches for Arkham Knight were presented with a download of around 600MB in their Steam clients. Several users on the game’s Steam subforum report that this partially resolves their performance issues; frame rates are considerably higher, but the stuttering does not seem to have been resolved yet. Subsequently, WB Games released a new patch of approximately 400MB on the beta channel, which undoes the previous patch. One of the users has hosted the update in .zip form on its own server.
Batman: Arkham Knight was pulled from Steam at the end of June after many users complained about performance issues in the game. Frame rates were low, the game stuttered a lot, sli didn’t work, and the maximum frame rate was limited to 30fps. All in all, Arkham Knight has been on sale for two days. Warner Bros. apologized and said gamers who had already purchased Arkham Knight on Steam could get their money back. Why Warner Bros. did not postpone the release, while the difficulties were already known before the release, is unclear. WB Games has been working on a solution for more than two months now.
