Respawn postpones future Titanfall games in favor of Apex Legends

Apex Legends executive producer Drew McCoy said in a statement that plans for future Titanfall games are being pushed back to fully support Apex Legends. It was previously said that something new from Titanfall will be released later this year.

In the statement, McCoy did not provide further details about the exact implications for future Titanfall games. He does say that no people or finances will be transferred from the Apex Legends team to other titles, and neither will the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. This Star Wars game comes out on November 15. McCoy wants to make it clear that there are two completely separate teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Respawn Entertainment was best known for the two well-received Titanfall parts before the release of Apex Legends. At that release, McCoy already indicated that Titanfall 3 is not in development, although Respawn CEO Vince Zampella announced not long after that that later this year something new from Titanfall arrives. So this is not a successor to Titanfall 2 and it is also no vr game. More details about this are still unknown. With McCoy’s new statement, it seems unlikely that this content will be released this year.
