Respawn CEO to lead EA’s DICE LA studio
Respawn chief executive and co-founder of that studio Vince Zampella will lead EA’s DICE studio in Los Angeles. He reports that the studio will be renamed and will operate independently of DICE Stockholm and Respawn.
Zampella will remain involved with Respawn, he reports to the LA Times, as “head coach.” At DICE LA in Los Angeles, he will work on making that development studio independent. Currently, DICE LA is mainly supportive of DICE Stockholm.
Zampella has not yet announced which new name DICE LA will receive. According to him, a new name and independence should ensure that the studio can attract developers. They would be less inclined to work at a supporting studio.
Vince Zampella co-founded Respawn Entertainment with Jason West in 2010, which was acquired by EA in 2017. Before that, he worked on the Call of Duty franchise at Infinity Ward, which he also founded, and on Medal of Honor at 2015 Games. Respawn is currently working with Oculus on the VR game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.
