Renders show suspected OnePlus 8 Pro without pop-up camera
Renders have appeared that presumably show the OnePlus 8 Pro. If the renders are correct, the phone will exchange the pop-up camera of the 7 Pro and 7T Pro for a hole in the screen. There is an extra sensor on the back.
The renders that OnLeaks made for 91Mobiles, show a design that differs in various points from the recently released OnePlus 7T Pro. On the back, to the left of the three cameras one below the other, an extra camera lens can be seen, according to OnLeaks for a time-of-flight sensor. It can help with portrait photos and with depth estimation for other applications.
At the front is a small hole in the top left for the front camera. That makes the pop-up camera of the current generation superfluous, although it does create a cutout in the screen. The current Pro model does not have that.
The appearance of the renders indicates that OnePlus is continuing its current strategy with two different models. A Pro model appeared for the first time this spring, but the reason OnePlus gave at the time was that the extra model was needed to make a 5G phone. As far as is known, the 7T Pro does not have 5G on board.
Two weeks ago, OnLeaks published renders of the suspected OnePlus 8, also with a camera hole. If the renders are correct, then OnePlus will not continue the round camera housing of the OnePlus 7 and opts for the same design of the camera housing on both models, with a vertical strip. OnePlus has not responded to the appearance of the renders.
