Renders show Samsung Galaxy S21 Fan Edition with 6.4″ screen
The well-known leaker OnLeaks has published renders of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Fan Edition. This smartphone is likely to be more affordable than the regular Galaxy S21, and will include a larger screen diagonal of approximately 6.4 “.
OnLeaks reports with the publication of the renders that the Galaxy S21 FE device will have dimensions of approximately 155.7×74.5mm, with a thickness of 7.9mm, excluding the camera island on the back of the device. This makes the smartphone 4 mm higher and 3.3 mm wider than the regular Galaxy S21, which Samsung released in January. The as-yet unannounced S21 ‘FE’ version is said to have the same triple-sensor camera system as the regular S21, although the lenses are likely to be downgraded as the Fan Edition’s suggested retail price is expected to drop.
The leaker reports that the screen diagonal of about 6.4″ is larger than the Galaxy S21, which has a 6.2″ panel. The selfie camera is once again incorporated into a hole in the screen. The smartphone would also be made of plastic, with a metal frame. The camera island design has changed slightly; it is now made of plastic and sticks straight out of the back of the device. No technical specifications of the device are known yet. For example, it is still unclear which chip Samsung uses for the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition.
This will not be the first ‘FE’ smartphone that Samsung will release. The company released the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition last year. That concerned a cheaper version of the regular Galaxy S20, with a different housing and a lower screen resolution. The S20 Fan Edition 5G version also received a Qualcomm Snapdragon soc, while the other Galaxy S20 models in Europe had a Samsung Exynos chip. Samsung has not yet announced its Galaxy S21 Fan Edition, but according to a leaked roadmap, it will happen in August. The suggested retail price is also unknown.
