Renders show possible design of next iPhone with horizontal camera setupset
Renders have appeared of what may be the design of the new generation of iPhones. The renders show three cameras that are placed horizontally on the back. That differs from renders that came out last week, where there is a ‘camera island’
The renders, that OnLeaks made for the Indian site Compareraja.in, show not only the back in a dark version, but also the front. Based on these renders, the new generation of iPhones would broadly retain the design of the current generation. There is a notch at the top of the screen on the front. This notch would be slightly smaller than on the current iPhones and the same would apply to the screen edges.
The back shows that at the top of the housing in the middle three cameras are placed horizontally next to each other, with the white circle around the middle camera being the LED flash. It is unknown what the various cameras are for. The microphone is located directly below the center camera. The volume adjustment button is on the left side of the phone, while the power button is on the right.
Last week OnLeaks also came up with renders of what may be the new iPhone. In these renders, which only showed the back, a slightly more different design choice was visible in the form of a ‘camera island’. This island is placed at the top left of the housing, where the three cameras and the LED flash can be seen. This somewhat resembles the way Huawei has placed the cameras on the Mate 20 Pro smartphone.
With these previously released renders, OnLeaks indicated that it was relatively early to put renders online, partly because, according to him, the new models are in the Engineering Verification Testing phase, a few phases for mass production. That means things can still change. He also emphasizes the same for the current renders. OnLeaks states that the two different designs are completely legitimate prototypes and that they may be two different editions of the new iPhone generation. But it is also possible that one of the two designs ends up in the trash.
OnLeaks is known as a reliable source for renders of unannounced smartphones. He often bases himself on CAD drawings from factories at, for example, case makers. However, it is unknown where his information for the renders of the last two iPhone designs comes from.
