Renders show LG G6 smartphone without semi-modular housing

Renders of the LG G6 show a smartphone that does not have a semi-modular housing. LG introduced that concept with the G5, which has a housing from which the bottom can be removed and another module can be placed.

The renders are according to smartphonelekker @OnLeaks based on cad files from a factory. Like the LG G5, the design includes two cameras and a fingerprint scanner on the back, but the option to remove the bottom half of the housing is no longer there.

The design is 8.3mm thick at the point where the camera modules sit, 148.8mm long and 72.3mm wide. According to rumors, the device will have a Snapdragon 835-soc and a 5.3″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The screen would be completely flat, without rounding. The back may not be able to be removed from the housing.

After the G5, LG brought its V20 top model on the market, without a semi-modular housing. However, LG promised to continue with the concept. The renders of the LG G6 seem to indicate that the new top model no longer offers the possibility to exchange modules.

The LG G6 may be released at the end of February or early March. According to ETNews, the South Korean smartphone maker wants to bring its top device to market faster in the hope of selling more copies. The LG G5 was announced early this year at the Mobile World Congress in February, but was only available in April.

The South Korean ETNews previously reported that the G6 does not get modules and does not have a removable battery, but has a waterproof housing. There is a possibility that LG will still apply the concept in another smartphone.
