Renders show HTC smartphone with 13-megapixel front camera
Renders have appeared of the HTC smartphone with a front camera that has a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels, assisted by a double LED flash. The design resembles that of recent smartphones from HTC from its Desire series.
On the renders, published by the Chinese ‘phone good’ Upleaks, the text ’13MP F/2.0 wideangle’ can be seen next to the front camera, to emphasize the distinctive features. The camera is on the front in the middle above the screen. HTC has been providing front cameras of devices with sensors with such diaphragms for several years now.
It is striking in the design that HTC gives the sides of the phone bright colors, while the backs seem to be executed in softer shades or black and white. The colors and design are reminiscent of the design of recent Desire smartphones.
Upleaks is a relatively new ‘telephone good’ and has a reputation that some things are right, but the Chinese sometimes seems to be wrong with other details; this makes it difficult to determine the reliability of the renders. According to the hashtag used, the phone will be named HTC Desire Eye. Further details of the phone are still unknown. There does seem to be a variant with the name HTC One M8 Eye, which looks the same as the HTC One M8, but that is a completely different device, presumably intended for the Asian market.
HTC will hold an event in New York next week, where it will likely showcase its upcoming smartphones. There it will probably also present its GoPro competitor with periscope shape. The invitation to the event entitled ‘double exposure’ already seems to be a hint that HTC is focusing on cameras during the announcements.
