Remedy Entertainment has trademarked Alan Wake’s Return. That may indicate a new Alan Wake game, or the re-release of the original. The studio is currently putting the finishing touches on Quantum Break, which will be released on April 5.

The trademark registration can be seen on the NeoGAF forum and was noticed by user ekim. He also notes that at the end of the second DLC, Alan writes on a book called “Return.” That could be an indication that Alan Wake’s Return is actually a new game. Remedy would also have registered the domain alanwakereturns.com. That would have happened last year, via the same proxy with which Remedy registered other domain names.

Remedy recently announced that it will be bundling Alan Wake with Quantum Break for Xbox One and Windows 10. That means the Finnish studio has re-released the game, as the original was released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and later for Windows. . Possibly the version that Remedy bundles with Quantum Break is a remake with polished graphics. If that is the case, it seems likely that it will also be available separately and possibly under the name Alan Wake’s Return.

In April 2015, Remedy was already negotiating with Microsoft about releasing Alan Wake on the Xbox One and possibly making a new part. The studio would like to start working on a sequel after Quantum Break is finished. The developers also said at the time that they would look for another publisher if Microsoft was not interested. The chance that there will actually be a new Alan Wake game seems considerable.
