Remedy opens new studio in Sweden with former leaders DICE and EA
Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment opens a studio in Sweden. The subsidiary must have 25 employees by the end of 2022. Two game industry veterans who worked on titles such as Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront will take charge.
Johannes Mang is in charge of Remedy’s Swedish studio. He spent more than a dozen years with EA, where he worked on Need for Speed and Real Racing, among others. He has been employed by Remedy since last year and is in charge of the Vanguard project. It will be a free-to-play multiplayer game.
James Salt will be named Game Director at the new studio. He worked for more than 14 years at DICE, the Swedish studio that is part of Electronics Arts. There he worked as a producer and director on several Battlefield games and Star Wars Battlefront.
It is not known exactly what the new studio will do. Mang tells the Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri that it now employs nine people and that this should grow to 25 employees by the end of 2022. Remedy is known for franchises such as Control and Alan Wake. The Finnish developer also made the Max Payne games. Remedy has a total of 300 employees and last year had a turnover of 41 million euros.
