Remasters of the first three Tomb Raider games are coming to PC

Tomb Raider 1, 2 and 3 are getting remasters available through Steam. Players need to purchase the dos-ports already on Steam and then get the polished versions of the adventure series for free.

The games are being adapted by Realtech VR who confirmed the games coming to Steam via Twitter. The games will support OpenVR and get a new 3D engine. The existing dos ports are necessary because Realtech VR does not provide game data for licensing reasons: textures and level data must come from the ports. This works the same with ZDoom for Doom and EDuke32 for Duke Nukem 3D.

Realtech VR is still looking at whether a release via GOG is also possible. Previously responsible for the iOS and Android ports of Tomb Raider 1 and 2, the studio is now working on the mobile port of the third installment in the series. The company already showed a working remaster of Tomb Raider last year, which ran at 1080p and 60fps.
