ReMarkable presents 10.3″ tablet with electronic paper screen
ReMarkable has announced a new version of its 10.3″ tablet with electronic paper screen. The company uses its Canvas screen, based on E Ink technology. The screen has a resolution of 1872×1404 pixels.
Although reMarkable uses E Ink technology, the screen is not comparable to, for example, e-readers. The manufacturer uses a different material for its Canvas screen, so that the screen should feel like paper. This should also be noticeable when taking notes with the included stylus. The touch-sensitive screen has 4096 pressure levels.
The reMarkable 2 is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and has better hardware. The tablet contains an unspecified dual-coresoc that runs at 1.2GHz. The device has 1GB lpddr3 memory and 8GB flash storage.
According to the makers, the tablet lasts two weeks with a battery charge. The reMarkable 2 has a 3000mAh battery and it is charged via the USB-C connection. The tablet has Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz and runs on Codex, a Linux-based operating system designed for the tablet.
The reMarkable 2 has dimensions of 187x246x4.7mm and weighs 403.5 grams. The device can be ordered for $399, a hundred dollars less than the predecessor. The makers say that the device will be delivered in July.
