Registration shows arrival Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB memory – update
Gigabyte has submitted a registration for a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti video card with 16GB of memory. The company did that with the Eurasian Economic Commission. It is unknown if and when the video card will be announced.
Gigabyte’s registrations show a total of five different video cards, including the not yet officially announced RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB memory, noticed Twitter user harukaze5719 and Tom’s Hardware on. The current RTX 3070 Ti has 8GB of GDDR6X memory. Further specifications of the possible 16GB variant are not known.
Twitter user Megasizegpu recently suggested that the RTX 3070 Ti will get a GA102 GPU. The current RTX 3070 Ti has a lower positioned GA104 GPU with 6144 CUDA cores. Last year there were also rumors about an RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB of memory, which stated that the video card would be released in January. Igor’s Lab later suggested that this video card had been postponed to ‘later in 2022’.
Reports about this RTX 3070 Ti appear just before the upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series, the first video cards of which will be presented on Tuesday. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang previously stated that the RTX 30 series will remain available alongside the next generation, because there are RTX 30 surpluses. Given this registration, it appears that Nvidia and board partners are trying to sell RTX 30 GPUs by offering them with more memory configurations. earlier stated the usually well-informed VideoCardz already that Nvidia is working on an 8GB version of the RTX 3060 and an RTX 3060 Ti variant with GDDR6X memory. A registration with the EEC does not guarantee that the product will actually come out. Although EEC registrations have proven to be a reliable source of information in the past, GPUs have previously been registered that have not been released. Last year, for example, the ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 Noctua Edition appeared early at the EEC, which was officially announced a few months later. At the end of 2020, a GeForce RTX 3060 12GB and an RTX 3080 Ti 20GB from Nvidia appeared at the EEC. The first was actually released later, but the RTX 3080 Ti eventually came on the market with 12GB of memory.
